Time travel with Biryani
By Gowtham

Note: This is a short trip and vegans not allowed!
What comes immediately to your mind about a Biryani? Flavour? Aroma? spices?
Biryani is like the superhero of dishes—it has layers, it's a crowd-pleaser, and it always saves the day at dinner.
Imagine cooking biryani from a YouTube recipe for a dinner party! Ever thought about where this tasty dish comes from? Ever wondered about origins of this wonderful delicacy?
Now what comes to your mind about time travel? Excitement? Curiosity? Time machine?
Now are you thinking about a time machine to go to the past in order to feed your curious mind and to feed your hungry stomach with some authentic original biryani
Let us do a time travel to Persian streets. Imagine the biryani origins in 16th-century Iran, where the pot heated, oil poured, and the magical spice moment unfolded. We often don’t like labelling pulao as biryani and vice versa. Interestingly, before biryani arrived in India, both were simply referred to as 'pulao,' indicating a dish with rice and meat.
Let us travel a bit forward in time to mughal period in india. In India, we played the name game, turning 'pulao' into 'biryani' during the Mughal era. "Birian" meant 'fried before cooking' in Persian, and we added that extra 'I,' perhaps to say, "I want biriyani, and I won't share!"
How many of us like a good Hyderabadi dum biryani? "Dum pukt" sounds fancy, right? Hyderabadi dum biryani is the best Indian version of Biryani from Mughal era. It is the slow dance of flavors in a hot pot, creating a party in your taste buds.
Time for my time-travel Wishlist: Ban veg biryani and envision future biryani machines – slow-cooking machine that make coffee machines seem hasty. Because for biryani, time is never an issue and i have all the time (machine) in the world!
And thanks for taking or wasting ;) the time to read this. Now go eat some biryani!!
